Serve One Another by Avine Macugay

It was a great day to fellowship the sun was out and the weather just right.  God’s word was clearly defined during our picnic day, for love, indeed was in the air. There was so much fun to be had, from feasting on the food, to the baseball game played by all ages, to the laughter shared by all. It was a wonderful sight to see people lending a hand to one another–women prepping for the meal, men putting up the tents and setting up tables and grilling on the barbeque, children playing and goofing around, simply being kids.

In Galatians 5:13, it declares, “For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love, serve one another.”

Our church family exemplified Christ’s actions in serving one another at the picnic. Our Lord served as an example by living among us, humbling Himself;  He served like a slave would, rather than to be served like a king should.  It was wonderful to bear witness to the many that emulated Jesus’ actions through their act of service, whether it was in sharing music, leading a prayer and fellowshipping with others.

A simple proof of a happy/healthy church family is when our actions speak on our behalf, serving as evidence of our attempts and desire to walk closely with our Savior, Jesus Christ, as we show love, humility, in how we serve and take care of one another.
